A Long Article with Pictures of Legos

@adhdferret is a person that moderates a subverse called /v/lego and has asked me to show off my Lego collection. Since I can only post links and discusions at that site, I figured I'd show off my Lego collection here, and then post this over to his sub. So... let's go ahead and get out the legos. (Yes, I'm aware that some of you are going to have an aneurysm by seeing Lego pluralised with an s. That's what I do, 'cause that's what I've done. Consider this an exercise that will help to produce immunobodies towards this kind of behaviour.)

Anyway, getting out the legos:

legos

There's the bucket.

legos

I really, really wish I hadn't ripped off the labels from the sides of the bucket. For some reason, it seemed like a good idea when I was a kid.

legos

I promise I did not just spill all these out onto my desk. I made this mess by hand, thank you.

legos

Wait a second... he's not a lego. What's he doing here? Oh well, back in the bucket anyway.

legos

That's not a lego either. He's just always hung out with my legos, and I don't know why.

legos

What is this? Those aren't Yes they are. Those are the minifigures that came with that bucket of legos, which I received for christmas sometime between 1990-1992. I don't remember which year it was.

Ah yes, my favorite legomobile! This thing has stayed built for a very long time. It's simple, but I like it.

legos

Knew it was missing something! The clovers fell off. Fixed now!

legos

What's with random non-lego parts in my lego bucket? What is this a button to anyway?

legos

Here's a setup of all the minifigures I could find. It's not all of the ones I used to have, but I think that some have traveled to other places. :(

legos

It used to be that if you wanted lego people, you'd get bricks with face parts on and build your own. Here's also where you'll notice that my old legos are not in pristine condition. Besides just being kept in a bucket, and being heavily used by a kid (me), they also looked a lot like candy and I'm not going to get too much into details, but for a while I was only allowed to play with them during certain other people's nap times.

legos

The wheel of my mobile, and that brings me to another point. You'll notice the color of the wheel: yellow. That's because the default color of legos is yellow. Not so much anymore, but for a while when I was a kid, legos tended to default to yellow if a specific color wasn't called for.

legos

You'll see here YELLOW doors and yellow windows.

legos

A closeup of the yellow door.

legos

A closeup of the yellow window.

legos

This door is newer. You can tell because it's white.

legos

When I was a kid, I'd organize unused legos by making stacks so that I could find the one I wanted easily.

legos

Ah yes. The wheels to another one of my favorite, and sentimental legomobiles. I wish I knew where the whole thing was.

legos

Another one of my favorite lego structures. I can't explain it, but I really liked it. Yeah, I used to mix sets. I would keep them all in the same bucket. Every time I got a new set, they'd end up in the bucket with the others.

legos
legos

I don't really remember exactly how these sets are supposed to go together, but I'm going to try and do my best from memory. This should be some sort of wizard set.

legos

A three bits from my lego pen. I wish I still had the rest. I don't remember what happened to it. It was an actual pen that you could write with, and the top was put together similiarly to legos.

legos

The front to my other favorite legomobile. We're getting somewhere.

Ah yes! The Ice Cream Stand! Yeah, I had to take apart something else from a previous picture to build this, but I can't go without showing you the ice cream stand. This was another set that I really loved and played with many times over. A sure favorite. (Don't worry, I put together the other weird thing when I was done.)

legos

I think this car came from cerial. I forget the exact details of that.

Anyway, that concludes the pictures of legos from the bucket. The next set of legos I'm showing off are from Lego Dimensions.

legos

Your default figures that come with the game.

legos

The stargate dimensional portal.

legos

The stargate as it might be used to play the game.

legos

Ghostbusters

legos

Lego world

legos

Scooby Doo, with an upgraded Mystery Machine. Read why I'm annoyed with the Scooby Doo lego.

legos

Doctor Who, with an upgraded K-9

legos

Wonder Woman set

legos

Yeah, I knew you all wanted to see a better view of the TARDIS.

legos
legos

The Simpsons

legos

Adventure Time, c'mon grab your friends!

Another one of my favorites: It's Marceline's amplifier. It comes apart way too easily.

legos

Here she is using it. (Yeah, I know it's not supposed to go like that, but I think it works nicely.)

legos
legos

Okay, I admit to having a bit of extra fun with this picture, but hey, it's Sonic!

legos

Now the Nomad was on for a minute or two, so here's a pile of dead batteries.

legos

E.T. Phone Home

And that concludes the Lego Dimensions category. Now I'm going to leave you with just one other bit, and that's an excuse for keeping old piles of Legos around. You can use them to build structures to keep desktop hard drives from getting too hot. I did anyway.
